Story Summary

Nicolas Cage transforms into NFL legend John Madden in David O. Russell's biopic of the man who became American football itself. From a college player whose career was cut short by injury, to the youngest head coach to win 100 games, to the Super Bowl XI title with Al Davis (Christian Bale) and the Oakland Raiders, to a 16-time Sports Emmy-winning broadcasting career, to creating the video game franchise that has sold over 130 million copies — Madden's story is the story of how one man's joy and originality reshaped a sport and a culture. Co-starring John Mulaney as EA Sports founder Trip Hawkins, Kathryn Hahn as Virginia Madden, Sienna Miller as Carol Davis, and Shane Gillis. Russell calls it "the joy, humanity and genius that was John Madden in a wildly inventive, cool world of the 1970s." Premieres on Prime Video for Thanksgiving 2026.
