What are Market Questions?
A Market Question is a real-world event tied to film or television — something that will or won't happen, with a clear and verifiable outcome. Each question becomes a market where fans predict the result and earn rewards when they're right.
Market Questions are the core of Story Inc. They most often come from filmmakers — finding their fans and gathering real audience insight on the creative choices that shape their projects. They can also come from the community itself, capturing fan curiosity and buzz around what's happening in film and television.

(If you're familiar with platforms like Kalshi or Polymarket, think of it as the same mechanic — applied exclusively to entertainment, and using Story Cash rather than real money.)
Examples:
- Will this director receive an Oscar nomination for their upcoming film?
- What will the opening box office weekend be for this summer's biggest release?
- Which actor will be cast in this Netflix series?
Each question has a clear, verifiable outcome that can be confirmed once the event concludes — for example, an official announcement, release result, or publicly available data.
How Market Questions work
Each Market Question is powered by contracts — when you make a prediction, you're buying a contract on your chosen outcome.
Buy a contract — Select your question and choose your outcome (e.g. Yes, $10M opening weekend, 81% Rotten Tomatoes score). Then select how much Story Cash to stake. Each contract costs +$1 SC — so +$10 SC = 10 contracts. Before you confirm, you'll see exactly what you pay, what you win if right, and what you lose if wrong.

Watch the market move — As more people participate, prices shift to reflect what the community believes will happen.

Settle — Every market has a closing date. When the market closes, the event resolves and payouts are calculated automatically. You can see the closing date on every Market Question before you predict. Correct predictions pay out +$1 SC per contract. Incorrect ones expire at $0 SC.
Tip: You can also sell your position early to lock in profits before the market closes. A small 0.1% trading fee applies when buying or selling contracts.
More than a game
On Story Inc., predictions aren't just for fun — they're part of a creative feedback loop. By predicting, fans turn insight into influence and become active collaborators in the storytelling process. You help filmmakers understand who loves their stories and why.
