Market Questions are the core of Story Inc. They often come from a filmmaker — testing ideas and gathering audience insight on creative choices. They can also come from the community itself, capturing fan curiosity and buzz around what's happening in film and television.
A Market Question is an event — something that will or won't happen — similar to event contracts on platforms like Kalshi. But instead of predicting economic outcomes, you're predicting what happens in the world of entertainment.
Examples:
- Will this actor be cast in the upcoming A24 film?
- Will this trailer reach 5 million views in its first week?
- Will this crowdfunding campaign hit its goal?
Each question has a clear, verifiable outcome that can be confirmed once the event concludes — for example, an official announcement, release result, or publicly available data.
How Market Questions work
- Buy contracts — Choose Yes or No. Each contract costs $1 Story Cash (SC).
- Watch the market move — As more people participate, prices shift to reflect what the community believes will happen.
- Settle — When the event resolves, correct predictions pay out $1 SC per contract. Incorrect ones expire at $0.
You can also sell your position early to lock in profits before an event resolves.
More than a game
Predictions aren't just for fun — they're part of a creative feedback loop. Filmmakers use Market Questions to test ideas, gauge interest, and shape their creative decisions based on real audience input.
