San and Mayu are schoolgirls on a quiet island, close as sisters. When the war reaches their shores, they're ordered into a cave hospital to nurse wounded soldiers. What they hold onto is each other. Hand-drawn by animators who shaped Princess Mononoke and The Boy and the Heron, it's a plea for peace built entirely out of friendship.
