Lee Raybon is a rare-books store owner and citizen journalist in Tulsa, Oklahoma whose compulsive truth-seeking keeps pulling him into dangerous territory. After his exposé on the Washberg family earns him a local award, he spirals into self-medication instead of savoring the win. A chance encounter with public defender Ginger leads the two of them to investigate how one of her clients vanished from inside a state prison — a case with all of Lee's favorite ingredients: power, corruption, and wealthy elites. Meanwhile, his estranged grifter father arrives unannounced, upending Lee's relationship with his teenage daughter, who had been told her grandfather was dead. The show balances dry deadpan comedy with genuine moral stakes, asking how far a person will go for truth when the personal cost keeps mounting.
