Seven years after his partner Clea vanished without explanation, Michael Sleep is still stuck — quietly grief-stricken, working a dead-end job at a DIY shop in suburban Manchester. When his father hands him an ancient alchemical recipe, Michael begins growing Homunculi: small, magical creatures said to hold the gift of prophecy. The series weaves stop-motion animation into live action as Michael and his friend Kacey nurture these strange beings, all while suspicious neighbours close in. It's a story about loss, hope, and the lengths someone will go to just to know the truth — told with the same warmth and gentle wit that defined Detectorists.
