When their son is kidnapped, Los Angeles mayoral candidate Mark Kimball and his wife Abigail have only hours to raise an impossible ransom — with most of their money poured into his campaign. Backed into a corner, the couple makes choices that drag dark secrets into the light and test the limits of their marriage, their morality, and their ambition. The film explores how far ordinary people — or seemingly principled ones — will go when everything they've built is on the line. With a ticking clock, a political career at stake, and a web of deception closing in, Animals asks whether the hunt to save one life can survive the cost of the compromises made along the way.
